Preparation

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:1-11

Preparation

How do we prepare ourselves
to meet one such as YOU?
What must we do to rectify
our lives when they are through?

Your majesty unparalleled
will diminish all our pride.
Our own works are stripped away;
YOU see what’s inside.

There will be no pretense…
YOU will look into our soul.
Of all events within our lives,
YOU will know our role.

Every word that’s spoke of us
will be frank and truthful.
Whether we be old and gray,
or whether we be youthful.

YOUR scrutiny of all our motives
will clarify intention.
YOU’VE acted in our own behalf
before without a mention.

What we’ve done, with what YOU gave
at that time will be weighed.
YOU have heard all our petitions
each time that we’ve prayed.

We were doomed to burn in hell…
a fate that we all shared.
We’re redeemed by grace of YOU,
and because you cared.

We are all without excuse;
our guilt is squarely placed.
We have sinned so many times
and now it must be faced.

JESUS paid our debt in full…
a debt HE didn’t owe.
We are pardoned by HIS work…
so we don’t have to go.

There is little we can do
to help us to prepare.
Our hope lies within the fact…
JESUS will be there.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

1 John 2:1-6

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15
