On The Wing (Genesis 8)
On The Wing
(Genesis 8)
When GOD brought forth the total flood,
as recorded in the WORD…
Noah after forty days…
sent forth a raven bird.
He also sent a dove…
to see if the waters had abated.
The dove returned to Noah…
it’s flight had been ill fated.
It must have been with difficulty,
flying without rest.
Not having any solid mass…
to rest from this great quest.
It is written that the dove returned,
and Noah pulled her in.
Noah waited seven days…
and then released the dove again.
The dove returned that evening…
an Olive Leaf held in it’s beak.
This of course told Noah
the flood had lowered from it’s peak.
Noah was encouraged…
but he still waited one more week.
Then Noah sent the dove once more…
the land for it to seek.
This time the dove did not return…
it had found a place to light.
So Noah removed the covering..
and seen a welcome sight…
Behold the land was dry again…
He could at last unload the boat.
The ark had been the home for all…
GOD made it sure to float.
This story here you’ve read so far,
was inspired by what I “heard”.
My Son-in-Law described for me,
how he felt like a weary bird.
He said he felt like he was in flight…
without a place to land.
This analogy is insightful…
and it made me understand.
I can’t imagine what it’s like
to struggle without cause…
To be unable to stop the fight,
or even to take pause.
How great HE is to rescue us
and deliver us once more.
It’s like a weary flyer,
that finally reaches distant shore.
To be without JESUS …
is like a bird that cannot land.
The only way to rest …
is to land … in our LORD’s Hand.
You’ll be safe there in HIS Presence,
from the evils of this world.
HE’LL strengthen you for future flights…
if again your wings unfurled.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
