Cast the First Stone
Cast the First Stone
(John 8:8)
JESUS reached the Mount of Olives
early on that day.
The people there were gathering
to hear what HE would say.
That morning in the Temple,
when JESUS came to preach…
The people gathered unto HIM
to hear what HE would teach.
The Pharisees and Scribes
had dragged a woman in the room.
She was taken in adultery…
a sin that truly sealed her doom.
They said “Master she is guilty…
caught in the very act”.
They cited Moses law of “stoning”…
one of profound fact.
The law of Moses does command,
we stone one such as she.
But what sayest thou? Should she be punished…
or should she go free?
This they said to tempt HIM…
to accuse HIM… their intention.
JESUS just ignored them,
and dealt with their intervention.
JESUS wrote upon the ground,
as thou HE heard them not.
But they continued asking…
pointing out that she was “caught”.
So JESUS stood once more erect,
and speaking slow and sure…
He that is without sin among you…
let him first cast a stone at her.
Again HE stooped and wrote once more,
there upon the ground.
Convicted to their conscience…
the accusers… left without a sound.
JESUS asked her, Where are your accusers…
hath no man condemned thee?
To which she answered, No LORD…
no man… No accusers do I see.
JESUS spoke, Neither do I condemn thee…
Go, and sin no more.
Then HE turned unto the crowd,
speaking to them as before.
JESUS spoke of many things…
and of judgment that would come.
That HE was “true” and they were false…
and that’s the total sum.
