Priorities

Priorities

This world is fairly bustling
with new items every week.
It seems that we can “have” it now
no matter what we seek.

Electronic hand held Ipods
now seem the latest rage.
Countless subjects are arrayed
displayed on every page.

Information and statistics now,
whichever you demand.
You just have to tap some keys,
the distance is soon spanned.

Entertainment of each sort you wish
will soon come into view.
You can find “whatever” type
you wish to pursue.

Clothes for every group are here
the styles are quite diverse.
Range from mild to moderate
and many that are worse.

Culinary treats abound,
ethnic restaurants firmly placed.
You can have the food you like
whatever be your taste.

Housing is another choice…
Condominium or a house.
Living there all by yourself
or with your loving spouse.

A Cabin in the mountains
or an apartment near the mall.
If you have the means at hand
you could have them all.

Autos in abundance…
new models fill the showroom floor.
You can buy one locally
or they’ll import it from offshore.

There are travel tours, excursions
and boat cruises you can book.
You’ll return with souvenirs
to help recall the trips you took.

You can visit countries
you’ve only read about in school.
You can use your passport,
that seems to be the only rule.

World travel now is quite the norm
the volume is surreal.
Advertisements shout of pleasures
it seems their main appeal.

Where is GOD in all of this?
Have we acknowledged it’s from HIM?
Are we so vain to think that all these things
from “ourselves” stem?

Eventually we’ll contemplate
just what this life was worth.
Have we used our time here wisely
that GOD gave us from our birth?

What we consider important “now”
in the future will look bleak.
When we prioritize our lives
and salvation we will seek.

Eternity is forevermore
we should reflect on choices made.
Put GOD into perspective…
before your chances fade.

What “is” your main priority?
Don’t waste your time while here.
One day you’ll stand before your GOD!
Your time is drawing near.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Daniel 12:4

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 3:1-7
