Old Acquaintance - Treasured Friend
Should "old acquaintance" be forgot
as stated in the song?
Does acquaintance evolve to friend
and if so, just how long?
Old acquaintance, treasured friend;
are they both the same?
Call them what you will my friend...
what is in a name?
What is there that separates
acquaintance from a friend?
A friend is always there for you,
on that you can depend.
Does length of time you know them
endear them that much more?
You're always meeting new folks...
do you think them a bore?
A friend will always BE a friend,
their allegiance will remain.
An acquaintance may not want to help;
they just may refrain.
Sometimes you may have a friend
and not even know it.
That's because you haven't had
the need for them to show it.
Not every friend will beat their chest;
their loyalty declare.
But you can bet if you've a friend...
when you need... they'll be there.
